My Jewish identity has been shaped throughout the years, in particular in college where attending Chabad made an everlasting impact on me. I have been blessed to be a part of this warm and welcoming community, and I have learned so much that has added many ingredients to my life as a young Jewish person. I transferred to Binghamton University in 2001 coming here as a one person and leaving a changed person who is observant, more knowledgeable, and spiritual.
Cutting vegetables on Thursdays, attending phenomenal, and inspiring classes, looking forward every week to beautiful and spiritual Shabbat's... the memories flow through my head and will always be apart of who I am. Actually, my college experience has been created through Chabad where I formed so many incredible friendships and gained an extraordinary amount.
The meaning of the word Chabad is a Hebrew acronym for Chachmah, Bina and Da'as, which is wisdom, understanding and knowledge. Those three functions are the basis of Chabad, and it has pervaded my life. Chabad has reached out to so many people including myself. I have felt that Chabad was my second home; no matter what time of day the Chabad House is always open for all of the students needs. Whenever I had a question I could always ask Chabad.
As I move on to the" real world" the memories of Chabad will always be a part of my heart and soul. I will always cherish and be blessed for my experiences, friendships, and mentors at Chabad. I will miss Chabad at Binghamton very much but I will always hold onto what I have learned here. Thank you, so much may Chabad grow to many new levels.
