When I first came to college, I had no idea what to expect. For the first time in my life I was entering a social environment in which not everyone was Jewish, and anyone who was Jewish most likely had a very different background than I. I wondered if my faith would be challenged. Well, after spending four years at Binghamton University, I can honestly say my belief in G-d has only grown stronger.
Jewish life has been a major part of my experience at Binghamton University. Whether hanging out at the kosher kitchen, participating in Hillel events, or being a member of Kaskeset, it seems like most of my greatest college memories are Jewish related. Particularly, I want to thank Chabad for always being a constant in my life during a period of intense social and academic pressure. No matter how much schoolwork I had, I could always escape to the Chabad House every Friday night for a beautiful Shabbat dinner with amazing people. I’ve always wondered what the neighbors think when hundreds of students trek down Murray Hill Road in the middle of October to eat in a hut outdoors when its 20 degrees. They must be doing something right.
