Life as a college student has been full of adjustments, transitions, and stops along an interesting journey. The familiarities of home and friends were left behind as I faced a totally new environment. One constant, in this adjustment, has been my Judaism.
When I left home in Connecticut for my new life in Binghamton I was very fortunate to have Chabad there to welcome me into their family. Here, there was no transition or adjustment period. At once, they became my home away from home, my emotional support, my mentor, my friend. They have provided me a foundation for my Judaism through their unconditional support and inspiration.
We are all on personal journeys and as Jews I believe our destination is very much the same. As we travel, we carry our Judaism; it is the map of true derech eretz. Chabad keeps reminding me of the correct path and, like a parent, teaches me things that I shall take throughout my personal journey.
