Some of my favorite college memories are at the Chabad House, and most of them are with friends that I met there. I remember how as a newly arrived freshman at Binghamton I was so excited (and I admit a little nervous) to go to Chabad on Friday night. I used to look forward to it all week long, and I still do. Shabbat at Chabad in Binghamton is quite unlike any other. Having services with 200 of your classmates, all sitting down to Shabbat dinner together, with all the pasta and potato salad you can eat, and of course Rivky’s challah!!! My favorite
Shabbat is the annual ladies night, which I look forward to all year. Aside from the amazing food and lavish desserts, it is so great to spend Shabbat praying, dining, singing and “bonding” at the same time, without the boys distracting us. At my shul at home, ladies are sort of brushed aside and treated as second class, but here, with Rivky’s help, ladies lead the way!!! I have so many great memories at Chabad that they’re too many to list here, but I will miss spending Shabbat in Binghamton the most. It is here that I’ve been part of such a special community that I know doesn’t exist anywhere else.
