The first time I came to Chabad it was with much hesitation on my part. My mother encouraged me to go saying, "It will give you a chance to meet new people". So that night, I went to Murray Hill Road for Shabbat services, worried and intimidated at what I would find there. I was overwhelmed by the amount of people. Every corner of the room was filled. The walls seemed to expand to give room to all these people. I was welcomed there with a friendly smile and a warm hello. Over the years, I am greeted with the same welcoming manner, as I was that first night.
Chabad house has helped me grow in so many ways both as a person and as a Jew. It has nurtured my soul, expanded my mind, and fed my heart and body. I have become a better person because of my experiences. I found a community of friends, something I have always dreamed of. I have met and grown close to amazing people who have enriched my life in many ways.
There are so many memorable events that it is difficult for me to choose which is my favorite. I always look forward to ladies night and women's cabaret as an opportunity to enjoy the talent of Jewish women on campus. The Purim carnival is another event that I never miss no matter what. But the most meaningful event is one that happens not once a year, but once a week. Shabbat dinner is something I look forward to every week as a place to relax with my friends over a hot meal.
College is a time in your life when you search for many things. Thank you Chabad for guiding me along my path.
