I feel proud of my Jewish identity. I love being Jewish, celebrating all of the holidays with my close friends and family. I have learned that my Judaism connects me to other Jews. Also, having Shabbat every week brings tranquility to my otherwise crazy life. It is something to look forward to every week. I appreciate my Judaism more then I did before.
I loved going to the Purim carnivals. Sophomore year my friend Jen and I dressed up as bumble bees and we came in third place in the costume contest. That was pretty memorable. We spent the whole afternoon making our "Debi Bee" and "Jenny Bee" outfits. Shabbat services and dinner at Chabad House were also great. There I met my closest friends from Binghamton University. I remember going down to the library and relaxing and resting on the couch, talking all night. Boy, I made great friendships on that couch!
At Chabad, you are welcome at any time. It is a home away from home and it is a support. It is a place to celebrate your Judaism, to make lasting friendships, and to grow. I remember adjusting to college as a freshmen was tough. Going to Chabad made everything better than OK, it got me excited about my life at Binghamton. That first shabbous I met my best friend Amy, we are still shabbous buddies 4 years later!
