I have found that in science as in Judaism, there is continual fuel for discovery and amazement. Improving the quality of life of the individual and improving the quality of life of a neshama are two very different concepts but there is a parallel. I realize that medical school will officially train me to help and treat patients' bodies physically while Chabad, through its vision, has been able to improve the quality of life of many neshamas spiritually. Taking part in Chabad's events and shabbotim, learning in groups and one on one with the Rabbis was extremely fulfilling and gratifying. I have noticed the growth in spirituality that my friends and I have attained and will continue to strive for. It is essential to maintain a certain level of fitness for our bodies to function properly and a significant amount of kedusha for our souls to continue sparking. I applaud all my fellow graduates on their accomplishments and wish everyone the success that Japan's prime minister views us capable of as Jews! |
