The trail soon turned into a cliff. (This shot is far enough away that you can't see the handholds too clearly.) Rabbi Slonim is at the right/bottom.
Nancy, Tom and Adam carefully make their way down.
Ira, Rob Akkerman and Anna Chernovetsky (and someone else, can't see...) made it to the bottom first.
Here's a group in the middle. Who's in front? Followed by Matty Fuchs, Ben Altman, Yael, Vered and Natalie Benhamou.
Across the valley were these caves in the cliff wall. The Romans hunted down Jews who had fled to these caves. They lowered baskets with archers from the plateau above, and fired flaming arrows into the caves, killing all the refugees.
At the end of the trail running along the cliff we just climbed down was a large Turkish, um, what was it? It was like a palace/garrison/barracks/lookout. steps, tunnels, rooms, caves, all in the face wall. Abe Lenderman, Rob abd Anna pose on an upper level.
Meanwhile, the rest of the group had descended far below.....
...... and Rabbi Creeger brought up the rear after taking a "nap" in a window of the Turkish building.
Finally, up to the city of Tzfat for custom-made Schwarma sandwiches.... Ilya Kharkover and Tovah Lowenstein watch Alan and Adam dig in.
