While on the bus we passed two large hills with a plain next to them. Our tour guide Ira said that this was where King Saul faced off against the Philistine army....
...and where David defeated the their champion, the giant Goliath, and frightened off the Philistine forces.
The next stop was the military cemetery, where most Israeli politicians are also buried.
This is the burial spot of the Minister of Tourism Rechavam Ze'evi, murdered a few months ago by terrorists.
We are still waiting for his murderers to be brought to jusitice.
Upon returning to the hotel, we passed by a demonstration of the Women in Black, who (with what seems to be a bunch of men, too,) try to convince passers-by and the government that Israel should hand over the "occupied territories" to Arafat and the Palestinians.
The man standng on the ledge on the far right was part of the smaller counter-demonstration, and was shouting something or other. Day to day life in Israel....
And here is the famous shop in the Dan Pearl Hotel, where Todd Snow tries to avoid getting ripped off.
