16th Annual Carnival a Purim Palooza
On Thursday March 1, 2007, the sixteenth annual Purim Carnival took charge of the East Gym. About 1,700 students rushed to the East Gym in anticipation of traditional and new attractions, not to forget the never ceasing "Hamantashen til' you bust!" Those wanting to be in the heat of the action took part in the ever-famous Pedestal Joust and other rides, while ravenous wannabee record setters challenged the hot dog eating contest. The costumes were undoubtedly some of the most coordinated and innovative ever seen, with teams of colorfully clad characters making their mark on the carnival and contest. Costume contest champs were the Super Mario Bros. of Nintendo fame. The Battle of the Bands kept the atmosphere rocking; thanks to all bands that showed off their talent. Thanks to all the organizations and campus councils that sponsored the event for helping make it a huge success. The carnival and its prize drawing raised $3,600 for local charities including flood relief for Binghamton citizens, CHOW, and Jewish Family Services as well as charities abroad including Children of Chernobyl and charities in Israel.
