| These are the instructions for building a huge Menorah out of canned goods. First, load up a van with a few pieces of plywood. |
![]() |
| Follow that with a heavy, thicker board for the base. |
![]() |
| Then, start loading up 500 or so #10 institutional size cans. You will need several cars full. |
![]() |
| Be careful not to slip on the snow an ice - it is the coldest day of the year! |
![]() |
| Start stacking all the cans and other equipment around the construction site. |
![]() |
| This is the second level. The first was very similar - just a touch bigger. |
![]() |
| The plywood is between the first and second layer. Stack up the color-coded cans 3 high, ina rectangle around the plywood..... |
![]() |
| .... and form an "X" for support in the middle. |
![]() |
| Be certain that everything is straight!! |
![]() |
| Since there weren't enough mushrooms to go around, they were used in the middle, out of sight. |
![]() |
| Decorations are essential - Happy Chanukah signs abounded. |
![]() |
| Notice the start of the third level.Again, a rectangle, smaller than the one beneath, with a support structure inside. the "wrong colored" cans were not visible during the ceremony. But thanks for noticing! |
![]() |
| With the shher weight of all the can, it is necessary to be precise with the can placement. |
![]() |
| The fourth layer was only 3 cans wide, so it was easier, except for reaching up high. |
![]() |
| The column at the top was supported with that plastic wrap they use in warehouses. The top piece of wood has holes drilled for the torches. |
![]() |
| The final height of the menorah had to be an exact fit so the wood holding the torches could be supported. |
